Italian Serie A side Como 1907 is in Ghana for a week-long football development project. The club's goal is to support grassroots football. It also aims to engage with communities across Ghana.

The club’s academy team arrived on Saturday, June 6. They are accompanied by coaching staff. This visit follows the 2025/26 season. The senior team, led by Cesc Fàbregas, secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League. This successful season in Europe is a backdrop to their Ghana mission.

The delegation will undertake many activities. These include community outreach programmes. They will also establish community football leagues. The club will donate footballs and uniforms. Coaching workshops are planned. They will also interact with young players. These actions intend to empower young talent.

Camilla Veronelli, Head of Community Relations & Sustainability at Como 1907, spoke about their return. "We came back to Ghana because last year’s experience was amazing," she stated. She noted the opportunity to work with and teach children football. "We’re very excited to be here once again," Veronelli added. Last year's visit was very positive.

Laura Hansen, Founder of Sports Creates Memories NGO, sees this as a long-term commitment. "We want to build an infrastructure for African football," she explained. She wants to make a difference for many children in Ghana. "Como have just qualified for the Champions League, and they are here to make a difference," Hansen said. This partnership aims for lasting impact.

Oliver Arthur, CEO of Arthur Legacy Sports, highlighted the initiative's significance. He described it as an opportunity to inspire young footballers. It aims to show them dreams are achievable. "We are supporting this initiative to make it a memorable experience for the children," Arthur commented. He wants to show every child the chance to play football. Como's presence is to teach them about success through dreams and hard work.

The visit represents an investment in Ghana's youth. It fosters international sporting connections. Such initiatives can offer exposure and opportunities for aspiring athletes. It aligns with broader goals of sports development in Africa. The project aims to leave a positive legacy beyond the week.
