West Africa Pharma and Healthcare Expo draws over 100 exhibitors

The 5th West Africa Pharma & Healthcare Expo in Accra has successfully attracted over 100 exhibitors from various countries. This reinforces Ghana's growing reputation as a central hub for healthcare investment, pharmaceutical trade, and medical innovation across West Africa.

This three-day exhibition expects to draw between 4,000 and 5,000 professional visitors. These visitors include healthcare practitioners, pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, investors, policymakers, and technology providers. Ghana's healthcare and pharmaceutical sector offers substantial opportunities for international collaboration, local manufacturing, technology transfer, and direct investment. This growth is fueled by increasing healthcare awareness, expanding hospital infrastructure, and a rising demand for high-quality medicines and medical equipment.

Ghana's continuous efforts to improve its healthcare infrastructure and policies support this growth. The government has prioritized healthcare sector development, aiming to provide universal access to quality medical services. Events like this expo align with national development agendas to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into critical sectors. Such investments are crucial for economic diversification and job creation within the country.

Praveen Singh, Chief Executive Officer of ACE Group, stated that the healthcare sector is one of the most promising in Ghana and the entire West African region. He explained that the exhibition launched in 2022 to connect West African healthcare stakeholders with global manufacturers and innovators. Mr. Singh specifically noted that the event has grown significantly, starting with a five-member team and now attracting participants from multiple countries. This expansion demonstrates the industry's confidence in the expo's vision and its ability to deliver world-class exhibitions annually.

The success of this expo enhances Ghana's appeal for medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. It also promotes technology transfer, allowing Ghanaian companies to adopt advanced production methods. Decision-makers and investors will closely monitor the partnerships and deals struck at this event. These outcomes could lead to increased local production, decreased reliance on imported medical supplies, and improved public health outcomes for Ghana. The continued growth of such events will further solidify Accra's position as a key regional business destination.
