The Spanish Gastronomic and Trade Exhibition, known as "Taste Spain Accra", will return to Ghana's capital on Thursday, June 18, 2026. This event aims to connect Ghanaian professionals in the food and drink industry directly with Spanish exporters and distributors. The exhibition is now in its eighth year and expects to attract eight Spanish food and beverage companies. These companies will present their high-quality products and seek new business opportunities within the Ghanaian market. Three Ghanaian companies that already distribute Spanish products will also participate, showcasing their offerings.
This annual gathering serves as a vital marketplace. Professionals from Ghana's food and beverage sector can meet suppliers. They can also explore new Spanish products and forge commercial agreements. The event is organized by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Accra. It receives support from ICEX Spain Trade and Investment. This Spanish government agency has worked to promote Spanish goods in Ghana for over ten years. The 2026 edition will include product tastings and networking sessions. These activities are designed to build stronger business connections.
The total trade between Spain and Ghana shows a healthy balance. Ghana's exports to Spain reached over €273 million. Spanish exports to Ghana were recorded at €267 million in the same period. This represents a significant 26% increase compared to 2024 figures. The growth in Spanish agri-food exports is particularly notable. These exports jumped from €23.5 million in 2024 to reach €50.2 million in 2025. This more than doubles their value in a single year. The agri-food sector now makes up almost 20% of all Spanish exports to Ghana.
Yann Emonet Ripoll, head of the Economic and Commercial Office, noted Spain's position as a leading wine exporter to Ghana. He stated that Spain is currently the third-largest wine exporter to the country. The exhibition aims to further boost this ranking. It will feature a wider variety of Spanish beverages. This includes sparkling wines, juices, and other food items. Mr. Ripoll also expressed his satisfaction with the strong trade ties. He credited Ghana's improving economic situation for boosting these relations in recent years. He highlighted that the event has become a key platform for building commercial ties.
The "Taste Spain Accra" exhibition is poised to further strengthen commercial links. It will offer a broad showcase of Spain's culinary excellence. This event is a clear indicator of growing economic cooperation. Decision-makers in Ghana's food and import sectors will be watching new partnerships. Spanish companies will likely use the event to gauge market demand. Ghana's participation signals its openness to international trade and investment. The continued success of such events demonstrates Ghana's growing importance as a trading partner.
