Spanish Agri-Food Exports to Ghana Reach €50.2 Million in 2025

Spanish agri-food exports to Ghana reached €50.2 million in 2025. This marks a substantial increase from €23.5 million in 2024. The sector now accounts for nearly 20% of Spain’s total exports to Ghana.

This significant growth coincides with the 8th 'Taste Spain Accra' event. The event showcased a broadened selection of Spanish food and beverage products. It aimed to strengthen commercial ties between Spain and Ghana.

The expansion of Spanish agri-food exports highlights an increasing demand for diverse international products in Ghana. This trend supports Ghana’s broader economic diversification efforts. It also signals robust trade relations between Ghana and European partners. Total trade between the two countries saw Spanish exports to Ghana rise to €267 million in 2025, a 26% increase year-on-year. For comparison, Ghana’s exports to Spain exceeded €273 million in the same year, maintaining a trade balance.

Mr. Yann Emonet Ripoll, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Accra, highlighted the strong commercial relationship. He noted the growing interest in Spanish products within the Ghanaian market. He also emphasized the international importance of Spain's wine sector while pointing to the expanding range of gastronomy on offer. This event, supported by ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, has consistently promoted Spanish gastronomy over the past decade.

The continued growth in Spanish food and beverage exports indicates a positive outlook for future trade. Ghanaian importers and distributors are actively seeking new products. Decision-makers in both countries will likely observe these trends closely. This could lead to further agreements and trade partnerships, impacting various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.

The event itself brought together 8 Spanish companies and 3 Ghanaian importers. They explored new business opportunities. Tastings and networking activities further facilitated connections between producers and the Ghanaian market. This edition also ran parallel to events in Nairobi and Abidjan. These parallel events show Spain's broadening interest in emerging African markets.

Ghana’s position as a key market for Spanish exports will likely strengthen. The increased variety of Spanish products available could also improve consumer choice. This provides valuable insights into evolving consumer demands and import patterns in Ghana. The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Accra remains committed to promoting such business matching.
