Ghanaian luxury perfume house Maison Yusif has launched its new fragrance, 'The Beast', as it intensifies efforts to position African-made perfumes on the global luxury market. The launch event took place on Saturday, July 25, at the Pelican Hotel in Accra, showcasing the Parfum Extrême as a bold expression of African craftsmanship and luxury.

This new fragrance is designed for individuals who command attention through their presence. It embodies confidence, discipline, and fearless ambition, delivering depth, elegance, and timeless luxury. Every bottle of 'The Beast' is handcrafted in Accra, reflecting Maison Yusif's commitment to modern perfumery and African luxury.

The launch of 'The Beast' fits into a broader trend of Ghanaian businesses seeking to establish global footprints. This initiative aligns with national efforts to diversify exports beyond traditional commodities and promote value-added products. Ghana's economy, which saw a 3.2% GDP growth in Q2 2026, benefits from such entrepreneurial ventures that contribute to job creation and foreign exchange earnings.

Speaking after the launch, Maison Yusif Founder Yusif Jnr Meizongo stated the company's focus on building an internationally recognized African fragrance brand. He said, "Since we started, so far we have been targeting international, and it has been great for us, and I think Ghanaians also support its exposure." Mr. Meizongo further added that Maison Yusif aims to "take over the world and represent Africa."

The company is determined to redefine perceptions about African luxury products, moving away from replicating established trends. Mr. Meizongo stressed, "Honestly, I’m sick and tired of replicating the white people in terms of everything that we do." He added, "So here we’re trying to take a new step to let the world know that Africa is what it is and Africa is the next big thing."

Maison Yusif is focused on carving its own identity within the competitive luxury fragrance industry. "Maison Yusif is not a competition. We’re doing it in our own race," Mr. Meizongo explained. He described the brand as "a royal fragrance house, truly niche, made in Ghana, by a Ghanaian, from Ghana and in Ghana."

Looking ahead, Mr. Meizongo expressed strong confidence in the company’s growth ambitions. He projected, "In the next five to 10 years, we look to conquer Africa and the world with our royal fragrance." This long-term vision underscores the potential for Ghanaian luxury brands to compete effectively on a global scale.

The inspiration behind 'The Beast' was to create a fragrance that projected strength and dominance. Mr. Meizongo noted, "We wanted to create a fragrance that was very dominant, and my creative team and I were looking for a very dominant name, and we came across The Beast." This creative process highlights the brand's dedication to crafting unique and impactful scents.

This launch forms part of Maison Yusif’s broader vision to establish Ghana as a producer of world-class luxury fragrances. It also aims to showcase African creativity and craftsmanship on the international stage. Such initiatives are crucial for boosting Ghana's image as a hub for high-quality, indigenous products, attracting investment and fostering economic growth.
