Evowheels Ghana Motors and Yango Ride have delivered 15 Dongfeng Nammi 01 electric vehicles (EVs) to Yango partner drivers in Accra. This handover marks a significant step in Ghana's green mobility efforts, introducing sustainable urban transport options.

The initiative operates under an innovative 'Drive-To-Own' (DTO) model. Drivers will operate their assigned electric vehicles for three years and then own them outright, without any residual payment. This program aims to transform daily driving into long-term asset ownership, directly improving the financial stability of drivers and their families.

This partnership aligns with Ghana's broader economic strategy to promote sustainable development and reduce carbon emissions. The introduction of EVs supports the government's push for cleaner energy and modern infrastructure. It also reflects a growing trend of private sector involvement in addressing environmental concerns and creating economic opportunities.

Timi Ayoade, Head of Operations for Yango Rides in Africa, stated, "This partnership is a strong step forward for green mobility in Ghana and for the drivers who power our platform." He added that the DTO model reflects a commitment to creating real economic opportunity for drivers, offering a path to asset ownership that can change their lives. William Huang, Country Manager of Evowheels Ghana Motors, confirmed plans to expand the pure electric fleet to 100 units within the next year.

The successful deployment of these 15 EVs sets a precedent for future green transport initiatives in Ghana. Decision-makers and markets will closely watch the program's impact on driver income and environmental sustainability. The expansion to 100 electric vehicles within the next year will further solidify Ghana's position in adopting cleaner urban transport solutions. This model could also influence other sectors to adopt similar asset ownership programs.

Evowheels has introduced several benefits for the initial group of fleet drivers. These include first-year comprehensive insurance and discounted fast charging at XChargeEV partner stations. Drivers also receive a complimentary home charging solution and free chassis protection installation. Additional perks include monthly performance bonuses and VIP after-sales service at designated centres. Drivers will also receive official fleet uniforms and participate in in-car advertising revenue sharing from the second year of the program.

This collaboration between a global technology platform, Yango, and a local fleet operator, Evowheels, demonstrates how structured vehicle financing can accelerate EV adoption. The comprehensive support package and clear path to ownership are designed for long-term stability. This benefits drivers, the platform, and Ghana's overall transition to cleaner urban transport. Yango continues to seek partnerships with other fleet operators and entrepreneurs to build the next generation of electric mobility in Ghana.
