MTN Ghana is investing $380 million this year to expand its network infrastructure and strengthen its resilience. This significant capital injection aims to improve call connections, facilitate clear transactions, and enable quick problem-solving for its customers across the country.

This year's investment is part of a broader $1.1 billion commitment MTN Ghana plans to deploy over the next three years. Dr. Lawrence Akosen, Senior Manager, Customer Experience Planning and Enablement at MTN Ghana, announced this during a media and stakeholders' engagement in Sunyani. He emphasized that the investment is not merely for expansion but to ensure reliable service for all users.

This substantial investment underscores the critical role telecommunications play in Ghana's economic development. Enhanced network connectivity supports various sectors, from informal traders in Techiman to farmers near Berekum, by enabling seamless digital transactions and communication. It aligns with Ghana's broader digital transformation agenda, fostering economic inclusion and efficiency.

Dr. Akosen stated, "The infrastructure is already there, ready to meet you." He reaffirmed MTN's dedication to providing quality and innovative services, noting that the company's growth over 30 years has been powered by customer trust. He highlighted how improved connectivity empowers entrepreneurs and connects communities previously cut off from reliable communication.

The implications of this investment are far-reaching. Improved network quality will likely boost digital financial services, such as mobile money (MoMo), and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Decision-makers and markets will watch for the impact on service reliability and customer satisfaction, which could influence competition within the telecommunications sector. This commitment also signals MTN's confidence in Ghana's economic future and its continued role as a key infrastructure provider.

MTN Ghana's focus on customer experience means that services will become more accessible and efficient, reducing the need for customers to travel for support. This approach, as Dr. Akosen explained, ensures that location does not determine access to essential services. The company's 30th-anniversary theme, "30 years of progress, powered by you," reflects this customer-centric philosophy.

The investment will particularly benefit regions like Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo, where connectivity helps farmers, traders, students, and entrepreneurs. Mr. David Nana Addai, MTN’s Mobile Money (MOMO) Manager for Northern Ghana, also assured quality services during a panel discussion. He encouraged borrowers on the MoMo platform to repay their loans promptly, ensuring the sustainability of these services.

This strategic capital injection by MTN Ghana is a testament to the growing demand for robust digital infrastructure in Ghana. It supports the nation's drive towards a more connected and digitally empowered society, impacting daily lives and economic activities across the country.
