The Association of Ghana Startups (AGS) and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) have concluded a trade and investment mission to Europe. This initiative aimed to attract investments, build partnerships, and expand global market access for Ghanaian startups. The mission involved startup founders and NEIP officials.
The delegation participated in two major international events: the FEF AI for Sustainable Development Conference in France and GITEX Europe 2026 in Berlin, Germany. These engagements provided platforms to connect Ghanaian entrepreneurs with global investors, technology leaders, and new markets. The mission is part of the Ghana Startups Trade Missions initiative.
This initiative fits into Ghana’s broader economic strategy of fostering entrepreneurship and private sector development. Ghana’s startup ecosystem is one of Africa’s fastest-growing, driven by digital innovation and a young, tech-savvy population. The government aims to diversify the economy and create jobs by supporting these emerging businesses. Data from previous years shows a consistent focus on improving the business environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Solomon Adjei, President of AGS, stated that Ghana's startup ecosystem needs stronger international collaboration to accelerate its growth. He highlighted that Ghana's participation in global platforms connects entrepreneurs with international opportunities, investors, technologies, and markets. Mr. Adjei noted that the collaboration with NEIP is building pathways for Ghanaian startups to compete and scale globally.
The mission focused on forging strategic partnerships and unlocking funding opportunities. It also promoted technology transfer and knowledge exchange in key sectors. These sectors included artificial intelligence, digital innovation, climate technology, fintech, agritech, healthtech, and deep technology. Decision-makers and investors will closely watch the potential deals and collaborations stemming from this mission.
At the FEF AI for Sustainable Development Conference, the Ghanaian delegation discussed responsible artificial intelligence adoption for sustainable development. They also explored AI's role in addressing Africa’s development challenges and creating new entrepreneurial opportunities. This engagement signals a strategic move towards leveraging advanced technologies for economic upliftment.
During GITEX Europe 2026, the delegation showcased Ghana's innovation ecosystem to venture capital firms and corporate innovators. They held bilateral meetings to secure long-term partnerships for startup growth, investment, and digital transformation. Such interactions are critical for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into Ghana's technology sector.
The mission also facilitated engagements with Ghana’s High Commissions in France and Germany, as well as European institutions. These discussions covered potential collaborations on startup exchange programs, policy development, research partnerships, and international trade. AGS remains committed to strengthening Ghana’s startup ecosystem through these extensive international partnerships and policy advocacy efforts. This will likely lead to increased capital inflows and technology transfers in the coming months, boosting Ghana's economic outlook.
