EduSpots has officially launched its Digital Champions Programme, a nine-month initiative designed to equip 60 community-based changemakers with essential digital skills. These trained individuals will then lead digital learning efforts and promote technology adoption across 52 communities in Ghana. The programme aims to strengthen digital inclusion and encourage the use of EduSpots' proprietary app and EduBytes learning modules.

This launch marks a significant step in EduSpots' involvement with the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship. Through this partnership, EduSpots is enhancing its digital innovation capabilities and expanding technology-enabled learning throughout its community network. The Digital Champions Programme is central to this strategy, investing in local leaders to ensure digital tools and educational opportunities reach underserved areas.

The initiative directly addresses Ghana's broader push for digital transformation and improved educational outcomes. While the nation has made strides in internet penetration, significant disparities remain in digital literacy and access, particularly in rural settings. Programmes like this help bridge the digital divide, empowering local educators and changemakers to confidently use technology for educational advancement and economic opportunity.

Isaac Kobby Ayibor, EduSpots' Digital Learning and Innovation Manager, highlighted the urgency of digital skills. He stated, "Digital skills are no longer the next big thing; they are the now big thing." Mr. Ayibor added that the programme invests in community leaders to ensure the future of learning is digital, accessible, inclusive, and community-led. This approach empowers individuals to create lasting impact in their communities.

The programme's implications are far-reaching for Ghana's human capital development. By fostering digital leadership at the grassroots level, it promises to enhance the employability of young people and improve educational quality. Decision-makers and development partners will closely watch the programme's success as a model for scalable digital inclusion strategies. The initiative could also influence future policy on technology integration in education.

Participants will undergo a three-day residential Digital Champions Academy at EduSpots’ Training Centre in Elmina. This academy, delivered in two cohorts, covers digital leadership, online safety, AI for education, and responsible technology use. Following the academy, champions will engage in monthly EduBytes learning modules over nine months, covering topics like safeguarding, enterprise development, and digital communications. Each champion will lead digital learning activities within their community, support fellow Catalysts, and provide feedback to improve the EduSpots App.

EduSpots will recognise participants' achievements through a tiered certification pathway: Champion, Ambassador, and Fellow. This system rewards sustained engagement and community impact. Participants will also benefit from mentorship and opportunities to shape future digital learning initiatives within the EduSpots Network. The first cohort of Digital Champions was selected through a competitive application process, demonstrating strong commitment to community leadership and digital learning.
