The United States Embassy in Accra has officially handed over 84 pallets of assorted military equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). This significant donation, made on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, aims to enhance Ghana’s operational readiness and strengthen its overall defence capabilities.
A substantial portion of this consignment is specifically allocated to the Ghana Navy. The equipment includes critical items such as radar systems, radios, antennas, monitoring displays, body armour, and boarding equipment. These resources are expected to significantly improve maritime surveillance, protect Ghana’s territorial waters, and deter piracy, thereby bolstering maritime security.
This donation underscores the deepening defence partnership between Ghana and the United States. Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of the Naval Staff, received the items on behalf of Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Chief of the Defence Staff.
