The Tema Regional Police Command has strongly urged residents to celebrate the upcoming Homowo Festival peacefully, warning against any acts that could disrupt public order. This directive comes as traditional rulers, priests, and priestesses prepare to perform customary rites, including the sprinkling of kpokpoi, the traditional Homowo meal.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Eric Asamoah Asiedu, the Tema Regional Police Commander, emphasized the need for calm. He noted that previous Homowo celebrations have seen confrontations and breaches of peace. These incidents often arose from disputes over who held the authority to perform the sacred sprinkling of kpokpoi.
