The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and the Information Services Department (ISD) have strengthened their working relationship. They met on Friday, 29th May 2026, to boost efforts. The goal is to improve the implementation of Ghana’s Consolidated National Development Plan. This plan aims to bring together existing long-term development goals into one guiding document. It seeks to ensure consistent planning and actions for the nation's progress.
This partnership focuses on key areas like public communication and citizen involvement. The NDPC wants to create nationwide awareness for the plan. This collaboration is part of a larger effort to build strong communication channels. These channels are vital for successful national development planning. The goal is also to promote national values and unity among citizens. The NDPC is leading a new national agenda called “New Values, New Society”. This aims to foster a shared set of values for all Ghanaians.
Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, Director-General of the NDPC, explained the vision. The President tasked the NDPC with creating this consolidated plan. It will guide Ghana's long-term economic transformation. Dr. Amoah stressed the need for good communication to connect with people. She noted that how people get information has changed a lot. Public institutions must adapt their communication methods. This will help them reach citizens effectively with national priorities.
Dr. Amoah highlighted how digital platforms are now central to daily life. This offers a great chance to engage more people in development discussions. "Almost everyone is constantly on their phones," she stated. This presents a significant opportunity to communicate better. It ensures important information reaches the public quickly and in an interesting way. She proposed using documentaries, jingles, posters, and social media content. These tools can effectively reach people where they are.
This enhanced collaboration between the NDPC and ISD is crucial. It ensures that the Consolidated National Development Plan receives widespread understanding and support. Effective communication strategies are essential for citizens to embrace and contribute to national development goals. Future efforts will likely involve pilot projects testing new communication tools. Decision-makers will monitor public feedback closely. This will determine the success of outreach efforts and the plan's overall impact.
