Climate policy advocate Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams made this assertion at the Environmental Education and Lifelong Learning Conference in Ghana.

    Mr. Adams stated that investing in girls' education, innovation, and leadership opportunities is critical for building a sustainable and climate-resilient continent. He highlighted that Africa faces severe environmental issues, including climate change, illegal mining, deforestation, land degradation, poor waste management, and declining biodiversity. These problems require innovative solutions driven by local talent.

    "Africa's green future is already present in the dreams, intelligence and creativity of its girls. Our responsibility is to unlock it," Mr. Adams said. He argued that girls should be seen as potential scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. They can develop solutions to Africa's environmental challenges, not merely as beneficiaries of climate interventions.

    The implications of this approach are far-reaching for Africa's economic development and environmental sustainability.     The climate advocate stressed that environmental protection requires education and lifelong learning, not just laws. He encouraged schools to become practical centres for sustainability through activities like tree planting, recycling, and clean energy projects. This educational shift can foster a generation equipped to protect natural resources and drive green economic initiatives.

    Mr. Adams also called for stronger links between schools, universities, communities, industry, and government. This collaboration would ensure that promising ideas from young innovators receive mentorship, funding, and opportunities for implementation.     "Talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. Our duty is to close that gap," Mr. Adams concluded. He encouraged young girls to embrace science and innovation, reminding them that their ideas and experiences could form the foundation for solutions to Africa's environmental problems. Africa's green transformation requires empowered people, responsible leadership, and communities committed to protecting natural resources.
