Tesla confirmed it would recall 2.98 million imported and China-made Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles. This recall will commence from September 25, according to a statement to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). The US automaker stated that mechanical emergency door-release handles might be hard to identify after a severe collision and electrical system failure. This could hinder occupant escape or rescuer access. Tesla's solution includes warning labels and an over-the-air (OTA) software update. This update automatically lowers vehicle windows after a collision, providing an additional escape route.
