Ghana’s Big Push road budget rose from GHS13.8 billion to GHS30.8 billion. In one official count of the programme, 47% of 140 jobs were single-sourced.
President John Dramani Mahama said at a Wa sod-cutting in November 2025 that the Finance Ministry had put GHS13.8 billion into Big Push road construction that year and was reserving GHS30.8 billion for 2026.
A Presidency-commissioned report released in June 2026 found that 66 of 140 Big Push projects, or 47.14%, were awarded through single-source procurement. Across all 1,441 road contracts awarded by the Ministry of Roads and Highways in 2025 and 2026, single sourcing was 4.58%.
Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the report concluded the ministry acted within the Public Procurement Act and that the single-source awards had Public Procurement Authority Board approval. By mid-2026, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson told Parliament that 87 transport projects were under way nationwide under the programme.
