Leaders from parliaments across Africa have strongly opposed foreign interference in their family values and social policies. They insist African nations must control their own cultural and moral guidelines. This firm stance was a primary focus at the Fourth African Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty and Values. The event took place in Accra. Many African countries, including Ghana, are currently debating laws on LGBTQI issues and protecting traditional family structures. Delegates argued that external actors should not pressure African countries to adopt specific social and cultural values. A representative from Eswatini highlighted that attacks on the African family are real. These challenges affect communities nationwide. The Eswatini delegate shared that her nation values respect, honour, dignity, faith, and interdependence. Family and tradition are core parts of their solidarity. Her nation's participation in the conference shows commitment to protecting foundational African values. These attacks are not just abstract discussions. They result in rising divorce rates. Child neglect is another consequence. Parental authority is also eroding. This leads to cultural confusion among the youth. African lawmakers must safeguard the rights of societies. They must be able to define family based on history and beliefs. Sovereignty includes legislating independently on vital issues. This means parliaments, not foreign capitals, decide what is best. Criticism and misinformation attempt to block African unity. Those promoting an 'anti-life, anti-family agenda' face opposition. Foreign ideologies increasingly challenge Africa's social values. 'Progressive woke ideology' influences global politics. It impacts African youth negatively. Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams called for greater African unity. He is the founder of Action Chapel International. Africa possesses vast natural wealth and potential. However, visionary leadership and unity are crucial for development. Nations become strong through right actions. They do not become great solely through military power or resources. Vision guides sovereign nations. Clear goals define identity and direction. Africans must prioritize national interests. Divisions harm progress. Cooperation and collective development will unlock Africa's potential. Future generations should not seek opportunities abroad. Africa can develop using principles that work for its people. Its sons and daughters should thrive at home.
