They emerged as the only nominees for these two key positions. This development was confirmed by the PANASA Secretariat on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following the close of the nomination period. This uncontested path means both nominees will face an affirmation vote at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). There will be no contested election. The AGM is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Monrovia, Liberia. This ensures a smooth leadership transition for the continental scrabble governing body. This outcome reflects a trend in some sports federations where strong candidates deter competition. It also highlights the internal dynamics of PANASA's governance structure. The association's constitution allows for such an affirmation process when only one valid nomination is received for an office. This ensures continuity and stability in leadership roles. According to the PANASA Secretariat, the affirmation process will follow the association's constitution. It will also adhere to the procedures governing elections at the AGM. Member Associations have been advised to note this development. They must make necessary preparations for the AGM. Haruna Adamu, a seasoned sports administrator and security expert, currently serves as the President of the Scrabble Association of Ghana. His extensive experience in sports management positions him well for the continental role. Tarus Kipruto, from Scrabble Kenya, is the sole candidate for the Technical Director position.
