Ewurabena Aubynn, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, has provided essential educational items to 500 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates. This support helps students prepare for senior high school (SHS) across various institutions in Ghana.

The intervention, a collaboration with the Awula Foundation, is part of the MP’s Back-to-School Initiative. Each beneficiary received a mattress, trunk, blanket, and exercise books. This provision aims to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians before the new academic year begins.

This initiative marks its second edition, showing significant growth from its first year. In 2025, the program supported 300 students. The expansion to 500 students in 2026 demonstrates increased commitment to youth education. This aligns with broader national efforts to improve access and retention in secondary education.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma North, Musa Adamu Kalamu, praised the initiative. He described it as one of the biggest education-support programs in the municipality in over two decades. Mr. Kalamu highlighted the practical nature of the intervention, directly addressing family needs.

Ms. Aubynn, who has a strong background in education, emphasized the importance of investing in young people. She stated that education is crucial for identifying and nurturing potential future leaders. The MP assured constituents of her continued support for initiatives that improve educational outcomes and create opportunities for youth.

She specifically highlighted the need to support the girl child, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds. Ms. Aubynn stressed ensuring no child is left behind due to circumstances beyond their control. She hopes the Back-to-School Initiative will continue to grow, targeting 1,000 students in future editions.

This intervention is part of several education-focused initiatives undertaken by the MP since taking office in July 2025. Her engagements include providing furniture to schools, such as Wesley Grammar Senior High School. The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has also documented her collaboration on education and infrastructure development.

Parents and guardians expressed gratitude for the support, noting the significant reduction in preparation costs for boarding and secondary school. A representative of the beneficiaries promised hard work to justify the confidence placed in them. This initiative strengthens Ms. Aubynn's education agenda, especially after becoming the first NDC parliamentary candidate to win the Ablekuma North seat in the Fourth Republic.
