Volta Region is Ghana’s most peaceful region, according to Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak. He stated this during a working visit to Ho on Monday. The Minister praised the region’s success in maintaining peace. He credited strong cooperation among religious leaders, traditional rulers, security forces, and residents.

This peace is vital for the government’s development plans. Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak stressed the Ministry’s dedication to citizen safety. He specifically commended faith leaders. Their prayers and guidance significantly boost national stability. The good relationship between Christian and Muslim communities in Volta is exemplary. This unity is rare in some other parts of Ghana.

Ghana’s economy and stability depend on lasting peace. Many regions face greater security threats. The Ministry uses a hotspot assessment system. This system monitors conflict-prone areas nationwide. The Volta Region has 12 identified conflict hotspots. However, it still has one of the lowest conflict levels overall. This achievement deserves recognition, the Minister noted.

The government aims to eliminate all conflict. This goal ensures peace across Ghana. Strong institutions and conflict resolution are key. These prevent disputes from escalating. Ghana’s reputation as a peaceful West African nation is strong. This is despite regional security challenges. Terrorist activities affect several sub-region countries.

Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak urged religious leaders to promote tolerance. They should champion national unity. Peaceful coexistence is crucial. Messages from pulpits and community gatherings shape attitudes. They maintain social cohesion effectively. This makes platforms for faith leaders very important.

Volta Regional Minister James Gunu supported the Minister’s message. He called peace a prerequisite for development. President Mahama’s government encourages collaboration. This involves political leaders and traditional authorities. Religious leaders and institutions also play a role. This helps accelerate development at all levels. Peace makes the Volta Region attractive for investment.

Christian and Muslim leaders welcomed the Minister. Reverend Seth Mawutor and Sariki Yushau Bashiru Turawah pledged support. They will help maintain peace and security. They also promised to address emerging threats. Collaboration will promote coexistence among residents.
