Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) has officially launched its 70th-anniversary celebration, marking seven decades of academic excellence and service to Ghana. The launch event, held on Saturday, 8 August 2026, focused on the theme “Shaping Character, Cultivating Minds and Nursing Souls.” This initiative aims to renew the school's commitment to producing responsible citizens for the nation's future.
The celebration brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including alumni, current students, government officials, and traditional leaders. The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, addressed the gathering, underscoring the critical role of discipline in education. He urged students to respect authority and shun violence. Dr. Amoakohene stated, “Students gathered here, I am urging you: do not assault your teachers, do not vandalize school property even if you are in disagreement.” He stressed that discipline forms an essential bridge between aspirations and achievement.
The Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, Ben Abdallah Alhasan, pledged the Assembly’s support for KUMACA’s goal of attaining Grade A status. He assured the school community that the Assembly would collaborate with management, alumni, and traditional authorities to address pressing needs. Mr. Alhasan highlighted that “Education is a fundamental driver of development and its advancement must not be left to government alone.” This statement calls for a collective effort to improve schools and nurture talent.
The Global President of the Kumasi Academy Past Students Association (KAPSA AKUNINI), H.E. Okunini Harry Boakye, also reaffirmed the commitment of past students. He emphasized the important role alumni play in supporting teaching, learning, and infrastructure development. Mr. Boakye called on past students to unite and help sustain the school's legacy. Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene and Chairperson for the occasion, expressed a deep emotional connection, stating, “I breathe KUMACA. I feel KUMACA. I smell KUMACA. I sleep with KUMACA in my heart.”
