The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has launched a five-day investment roadshow across the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions. This initiative aims to identify and promote new investment opportunities. It seeks to attract both domestic and foreign investors to these areas.
This roadshow is part of GIPA's broader Investment Opportunity Mapping Project (IOMP). The project aims to develop a pipeline of investment-ready projects. GIPA and its partners will engage local authorities, traditional leaders, business chambers, and enterprises in Sunyani, Techiman, and Goaso.
The IOMP has already profiled 378 investment projects from 188 districts across 15 regions between July 2025 and June 2026. The Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions alone contributed 99 of these projects. This demonstrates their significant potential for economic growth.
GIPA's statement highlighted the success of previous roadshows in the Volta, Oti, Western, Central, and Ashanti regions. This current initiative will focus on key sectors. These include agribusiness, agro-processing, logistics, eco-tourism, mining-linked value addition, and rural industrialisation.
Historically, the three regions have attracted substantial foreign direct investment (FDI). Between January 1994 and June 2026, they collectively secured approximately US$383.65 million from 57 registered companies. This indicates a strong foundation for future investment.
Bono East recorded the highest investment value, attracting US$266.9 million across 15 projects. This was largely driven by the agriculture sector. Bono region registered the highest number of companies, with 32 firms. These attracted investments worth US$56.7 million, primarily in manufacturing and export trading of cashew and timber.
Ahafo region attracted US$60.1 million through 10 registered companies. Investments here were mainly in manufacturing, mining support services, and building and construction. Investors from India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, China, Lebanon, and Australia have shown confidence in these regions.
The roadshow will include courtesy calls on Regional Ministers and Houses of Chiefs. It will also feature stakeholder engagements, project site visits, and business-to-business matchmaking sessions. GIPA aims to support Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and local businesses.
This support involves refining project ideas into investment-ready proposals. It will provide technical guidance, project exhibitions, and investor pitch sessions. By the end of the programme, GIPA expects to establish a verified pipeline of bankable projects. It also aims to strengthen the capacity of regional stakeholders to attract and engage investors effectively.
GIPA is collaborating with several key partners for this initiative. These include the Office of the Chief of Staff, the 24 Hour Economy Secretariat, Regional Coordinating Councils, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, and the Ghana Tourism Authority. This collaboration ensures effective implementation and follow-up on investment opportunities.
