    The Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly has broken ground on a new 24-hour market. This GH₵7 million development is taking place in Asuofua, near Barekese in the Ashanti Region. The project will be funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). Construction is expected to take between 24 and 36 months to complete.

    This new market facility will offer much more than just trading spaces. It is designed to include a banking hall for financial transactions. There will also be storage facilities for goods. A fire station and a clinic are planned for essential services. A day-care centre will support families. A police post will ensure security. These amenities will support diverse trading activities.

    The market aims to stimulate economic growth in the region. It is also expected to create employment opportunities for residents. Trade activities at both rural and urban levels should expand.     Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, the District Chief Executive (DCE), spoke at the ceremony. He thanked traditional leaders, consultants, and other partners. Their cooperation was crucial for starting the project. He highlighted that securing land was essential. Providing necessary documents and technical advice also played a key role. Nana Afrane Boateng, Adiembra Odikro, also praised the initiative. He called it a major intervention for the local economy. He stated that locating the market locally improves access to goods and services. It will significantly boost economic activity at the grassroots.
