LCB Worldwide Ghana Undertakes Major Fumigation Exercise in Accra
Crisis management company LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited partnered with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to fumigate key public spaces in Accra on July 11, 2026. This large-scale effort aims to prevent disease outbreaks during the rainy season. The exercise occurred in response to recent widespread flooding. It targeted markets and transport terminals within the Korle Klottey Municipality in the Greater Accra Region. This initiative also coincided with the National General Cleaning Exercise announced by President John Dramani Mahama. This national effort followed extensive flooding that impacted many parts of the country. The fumigation effort seeks to reduce sanitation-related diseases, which often increase during the rainy season. It supports the government's renewed focus on environmental sanitation. This aligns with President Mahama's campaign for cleaner communities and better public health. This exercise forms part of LCB Worldwide Ghana's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The company's primary business involves providing disease prevention and disinfection services at Ghana's ports and airports. However, LCB Worldwide Ghana views supporting community public health interventions as equally important. These interventions are conducted through partnerships with institutions like the Ghana Health Service. This current initiative reflects a commitment to the well-being of Ghanaians. It recognizes the increasing public health risks associated with the rainy season. Fiifi Buabeng-Baiden, LCB Worldwide Ghana’s Lead for Partnerships and Programmes, affirmed the company's dedication. He stated the partnership with the Ghana Health Service was timely and necessary due to rising public health risks. Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, described the exercise as a proactive measure. He emphasized prevention is crucial to avoid costly and overwhelming disease outbreaks like cholera. He lauded the collaboration between the two entities. This fumigation effort implies a continued focus on public health and sanitation in Ghana. Decision-makers and local communities will need to ensure sustained clean environments to maximize the benefits. The Municipal Chief Executive for Korle Klottey, Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, highlighted the need for resident participation. He stressed that ongoing series of fumigations would be necessary within the municipality. This includes areas like the Tema Station market, Odawna, and Osu, to maintain cleanliness. LCB Worldwide Ghana has a history of supporting public health, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
