The National Service Authority (NSA) has released 121,754 PIN codes for prospective national service personnel for the 2026/2027 National Service Year. This action officially opens the online registration process for eligible graduates across Ghana. The registration period commenced on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and will conclude on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
This release is crucial for thousands of tertiary institution graduates who are required to undertake national service under the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119). The NSA urged all eligible individuals to complete their registration promptly to avoid any delays in their deployment. The national service program is a mandatory one-year undertaking for Ghanaian graduates, contributing to various sectors of the economy and public service.
The national service program plays a significant role in Ghana's labour market by providing a structured entry point for new graduates. It also addresses human resource needs in critical areas such as education, health, and agriculture. The NSA reported that tertiary institutions initially submitted 144,023 prospective personnel for consideration. Out of this number, 122,712 submissions were approved, leading to the creation of records for 121,754 unique individuals. However, 958 approved submissions are still awaiting promotion pending further verification. Additionally, 21,311 submissions were rejected due to pending identity verification issues. The remaining 22,269 submissions are currently withheld, awaiting the outcome of further checks.
Prospective personnel who have received their PIN codes must access the NSA's registration portal to activate them and complete the online enrolment process. A mandatory registration fee is required to activate the PIN code before applicants can proceed with enrolment. This payment can be made conveniently via Mobile Money across all telecommunication networks.
The NSA has introduced enhanced security measures to bolster the integrity of the registration process and prevent fraudulent enrolments. These measures include facial biometric verification, which is cross-referenced against Ghana Card records held by the National Identification Authority (NIA). Applicants are also required to provide a valid GhanaPost GPS address. This will support accurate deployment and facilitate proximity-based postings, ensuring personnel are assigned to locations efficiently. Real-time verification mechanisms have also been integrated into the registration platform to improve overall data accuracy.
The Authority has also reminded tertiary institutions with unresolved accreditation statuses to engage the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to regularise their standing. The NSA confirmed it would continue processing eligible graduates from such institutions once GTEC confirms their accreditation. This ensures that no eligible student is left behind due to institutional administrative issues.
