Global Ore Industries Ltd has secured official government approval to operate the Aboso-Bompieso Mine as a large-scale mining company. This approval applies to the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region. The company received the transfer of the Aboso Mining Lease from Adudanfed Company Limited on January 3, 2025.

This lease covers the area stretching from Fanti Mine to Bompieso. The operation is expected to bring renewed economic activity to the Aboso and Bompieso communities. There are hopes for increased employment opportunities and accelerated local development. Global Ore plans to go beyond gold extraction. It aims to create sustainable benefits for its host communities through infrastructure, youth employment, and local content participation.

This new mining operation fits into Ghana's broader economic strategy to boost regional economies. The mining sector is a key driver of Ghana's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). For example, mining and ICT surged economic growth to 6.4 percent in the first quarter of 2026. This approval indicates continued government support for large-scale mining. It also comes with an emphasis on local benefits as detailed in the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703). The government seeks to maximize mining revenues while ensuring responsible practices.

Mr. Daniel Eshun, Community Relations Coordinator at the Takoradi Office of the Minerals Commission, confirmed comprehensive regulatory compliance. He explained that Global Ore completed all legal and regulatory requirements. This included adherence to the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703) and Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2173. These laws require mining companies to meet obligations for local employment, community engagement, local procurement, and compensation. Nana Abena Kunadjoa II, Paramount Queen Mother of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, welcomed the development. She urged the company to prioritize community development and youth employment.

The Minerals Commission will monitor Global Ore's activities to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements. Global Ore's Managing Director, Mr. Joseph Yankson Forbah, outlined an extensive vision for the area. This includes investments in roads, schools, healthcare facilities, economic empowerment initiatives, and environmental protection programmes. His stated commitment is to transform lives, not just mine. This project represents a significant test of Ghana's capacity to balance mining expansion with community welfare. Local decision-makers will closely watch its execution. The success of this venture could influence future mining approvals and community engagement models.
