Togbe Afede XIV Partners to Expand Kpeve Water Plant
A delegation representing Togbe Afede XIV has conducted a feasibility assessment for expanding the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant. Executives from Strategic Initiatives Limited, representing the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, visited the plant with their Chinese partners on Saturday. This visit forms part of an ongoing study for a proposed investment to increase the plant’s water production capacity. This initiative aims to address the increasing demand for safe drinking water in the Volta Region. The Kpeve facility currently plays a crucial role in supplying potable water to numerous communities. Expanding the plant will strengthen the region’s water infrastructure and improve the reliability of water supply for residents. The investment aligns with broader efforts to improve public utilities and support regional development across Ghana. Stable water supply is essential for public health and economic growth. Challenges such as water theft and the need for tariff adjustments, as seen in recent reports of GHS 74,000 charges for illegal reconnections, underscore the importance of robust water infrastructure. Mr. Eric Avornyo, Station Manager of the Kpeve Water Pumping and Treatment Station, briefed the delegation. He explained the plant's current operations, production capacity, and its vital role. Mr. Avornyo also outlined existing operational challenges and the pressing need to boost output to meet the region's rising water demands. This proposed expansion could significantly enhance water security and promote socio-economic progress in the Volta Region. It demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development and infrastructure improvement. Decision-makers and residents will watch closely for further developments on this critical project.
