One child has died following a road traffic accident near the Dzorwulu–Accra Mall. The child was receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Police Hospital. This tragic outcome follows a collision on Thursday, July 30, involving a school bus and a tipper truck.
The deceased child was among several victims who sustained injuries in the accident. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus was transporting approximately 11 lower primary school pupils. They were travelling from Ashaiman to Accra when the incident occurred.
The accident happened when a loaded tipper truck reportedly rammed into the rear of the school bus. The bus carried registration number GT 5717-14. Preliminary investigations indicate the children involved were aged between three and 10 years.
