Ghana's Energy Minister, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced the start of the Anwomaso–Kumasi Line Upgrade Project. This critical infrastructure development will increase power supply to Kumasi from 364MW to 1000MW. Ing. Frank Asirifi Otchere, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo), confirmed GRIDCo's commitment. GRIDCo will collaborate with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to inform the public about planned outages. This proactive communication aims to minimize inconvenience to residents and prevent business disruptions during the upgrade period. The upgrade from 364MW to 1000MW represents more than a threefold increase in capacity, designed to serve Kumasi for a very long time.
