Genser Energy has secured €456 million in term and revolving credit facilities. This significant financing will support ongoing energy infrastructure projects and expansion across West Africa.
The funds will provide working capital for completing current engineering, procurement, and construction projects. This move also strengthens the company’s financial position and offers flexibility for its expansion plans. The financing was arranged by FirstRand Bank Limited through its Rand Merchant Bank division, Absa Bank Limited, and Standard Bank of South Africa Limited.
This investment highlights the growing importance of private sector involvement in Ghana’s energy security and regional power integration. Ghana aims to become a regional energy hub, and such private initiatives contribute significantly to this goal. The country’s energy sector has seen substantial investment in recent years, driven by increasing industrial demand and a push for reliable power supply. Genser Energy already operates a 436-kilometre natural gas pipeline network in Ghana, underscoring its deep roots in the nation's energy landscape.
Mr. Baafour Asiamah-Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of Genser Energy, stated that the financing reflects the confidence of financial partners in the company’s long-term plans. He emphasized Genser’s commitment to building robust energy infrastructure across West Africa. The company remains focused on large-scale investments to deliver reliable energy and support industrial development.
This financing will enable Genser Energy to continue its investments in Ghana while advancing its expansion into Côte d’Ivoire and other strategic markets. The company expects to commission its Gas Conditioning Plant and the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal later this year. These projects are crucial for enhancing Ghana's energy processing and export capabilities. The successful securing of this capital indicates continued investor appetite for well-structured energy projects in the region. It also signals a positive outlook for industrial growth and energy reliability in West Africa.
The company’s current installed generation capacity exceeds 334 megawatts. Genser Energy develops and delivers energy solutions that support industrial growth and infrastructure expansion. It supplies power to industrial clients and utilities, also participating in cross-border power exports. This latest funding follows a US$428 million corporate refinancing in Ghana and a €200 million equipment loan facility secured by Genser Energy Cote d’Ivoire in 2025. These successive financial milestones demonstrate sustained growth and strategic investment in the region's energy sector.
