This five-year initiative, backed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is led in Ghana by the University of Cape Coast. Field observations recorded approximately 10 metres of beach loss at Dzita in the Volta Region within a mere two months.     Professor Dennis Aheto, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, noted the project's importance for policy. He explained, "We can feed into broader models for us to make recommendations for proper decision-making." The new equipment will measure wave heights, erosion extent, bathymetry (water depth), and salinity. This comprehensive data will inform more effective coastal management strategies.
