Gloria Boye-Doku, a prominent Partner in Tax and Regulatory at Deloitte Ghana, has launched two new books, “Mindset for Success” and “The Power of Hope.” These publications aim to inspire young people to believe that their background should never limit their aspirations, promoting a strong mindset for achieving personal and professional goals.

The books emerged from Ms. Boye-Doku’s extensive mentorship engagements with students at institutions such as UPSA and Accra Technical University. She observed that many students mistakenly attribute success solely to privileged upbringings. Her books directly address this misconception, asserting that mindset and determination are far more critical than one's starting circumstances.

This initiative contributes to Ghana’s broader economic and social development by fostering a culture of self-reliance and ambition among its youth. Empowering young people to overcome perceived limitations can lead to increased entrepreneurship, innovation, and a more skilled workforce, which are vital for sustained economic growth. Such efforts complement government and private sector programs focused on human capital development.

Speaking at the book launch held at the British Council in Accra, Ms. Boye-Doku stated, “This book is to tell them that no matter your background, no matter where you are coming from, the most important thing is your mindset. And with the right mindset, your background is not a limitation. You can aspire to whatever height and you can achieve success.” This statement underscores the core message of her work.

Renowned Ghanaian playwright and author, Uncle Ebo Whyte, commended Ms. Boye-Doku for her contribution. He described the books as an investment in future generations, highlighting the importance of documenting personal experiences to inspire others. Mr. Whyte noted, “Gloria has paid her dues. She hasn't left a debt for her grandchildren to come and pay. Indeed, she's making an investment for her grandchildren to come and be blessed by.”

The books are expected to motivate a wide audience, including students, young professionals, and aspiring leaders. By demonstrating that success is shaped more by determination, resilience, and mindset than by one's background, the publications offer practical guidance and encouragement. This focus on personal agency is crucial for a nation striving to improve its human development index and reduce youth unemployment.

The emphasis on mindset and resilience is particularly relevant in Ghana, where economic challenges can often deter young people from pursuing ambitious goals. By providing tools and perspectives to navigate these challenges, Ms. Boye-Doku's books can help cultivate a generation of proactive and successful individuals. This aligns with national development strategies that prioritize education and youth empowerment as drivers of long-term prosperity.

The launch of these books also highlights the growing trend of Ghanaian professionals contributing to national discourse and development beyond their corporate roles. Such initiatives foster a more engaged citizenry and provide valuable resources for personal growth, which indirectly supports economic stability and progress. The impact of these books will be seen in the attitudes and achievements of the young people they reach, potentially shaping future leaders and innovators in Ghana.
