Stanbic Bank Ghana has donated relief items worth GHS 400,000 to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). The donation aims to assist communities affected by recent flooding and fire incidents across Accra and other parts of the country.
This significant contribution responds to the severe downpour and subsequent fire outbreak on June 3. These events displaced numerous families, disrupted livelihoods, and caused considerable hardship for residents and market operators. Stanbic Bank swiftly mobilized a package of essential items to support NADMO's ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
This follows a trend of increased corporate social investment by financial institutions in Ghana. In 2025, Stanbic Bank invested GHS 8.86 million in various corporate social initiatives. This investment covered sectors such as education, healthcare, skills training, agriculture, financial wellness, and youth development. Such actions by banks underscore their growing role in national development beyond traditional financial services.
Kwamina Asomaning, Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Ghana, stated: “At Stanbic Bank, our purpose is Ghana is our home, and we drive her growth. We recognise that true growth is only possible when our communities and people are thriving.” He added that the bank remains deeply committed to the well-being of its communities, which is central to its purpose.
This donation provides immediate relief and highlights the ongoing need for robust disaster preparedness and response mechanisms. Financial institutions and other corporate entities are increasingly stepping in to fill gaps in disaster aid. This support helps restore dignity and stability to impacted communities. Watch for how these partnerships evolve to address future climate-related challenges in Ghana.
The donated items are designed to meet both the immediate and medium-term needs of displaced persons. They include essential protective equipment such as wellington boots, raincoats, and life jackets. The package also contains student mattresses, blankets, toiletries, and mosquito repellents. Food items provided comprise rice, cooking oil, tomato puree, canned fish, and sanitary pads, known as dignity kits. These items address critical needs for shelter, hygiene, and nutrition among affected populations. The National Disaster Management Organisation will distribute these resources to those most in need. This collaborative effort demonstrates a strong commitment to community welfare in the face of natural disasters.
