Republic Bank Ghana has formalized a three-year agreement to become the title sponsor of the JoyNews Habitat Fair, expanding its partnership with the Multimedia Group Limited across all brands and locations nationwide. This significant development, signed on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, builds upon a successful three-year collaboration where Republic Bank sponsored the Habitat Fair organized by Luv FM in Kumasi.

The expanded sponsorship aims to tackle Ghana's persistent housing deficit, which stood at an estimated 1.8 million housing units in 2015. Rapid urbanization and population growth continue to widen this gap, making homeownership a significant challenge for many Ghanaians. Republic Bank's commitment through this partnership focuses on improving affordability and accessibility to housing finance solutions.

This initiative aligns with broader national efforts to address housing challenges, a critical component of Ghana's economic stability and social development. The housing sector is a key driver of economic activity, influencing employment, construction, and financial services. Previous government policies and financial institution efforts have sought to bridge this gap, but affordability remains a major hurdle for prospective homeowners across the country.

Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, highlighted the bank's historical commitment to housing finance. He stated, "The challenge is not the supply side but affordability," citing low household incomes, high borrowing costs, and land litigation as primary barriers. Dr. Dzoboku emphasized that addressing the housing deficit requires a concerted effort from government, financial institutions, developers, and the media.

The expanded partnership means the Habitat Fair will now reach more Ghanaians, with events planned for Accra, Kumasi, and Ho. This wider geographical reach will allow individuals in various regions to engage directly with financial institutions and developers. Republic Bank offers a range of home financing options, including loans for buying, building, and improving homes, as well as pension-backed mortgages. The bank also participates in the National Housing Scheme, supporting public sector workers in acquiring homes.

Fiifi Koomson, General Manager of Joy Brands at Multimedia Group, described the new agreement as a "statement of confidence" in the Multimedia Group. He noted that the success of the Kumasi collaboration made the nationwide expansion a natural progression. Max Fugar, General Manager of Sales at Multimedia Group, confirmed that the Habitat Fair Clinic will commence at Achimota Mall from August 21 to 23, providing an immediate opportunity for engagement.

This partnership is expected to stimulate activity in the real estate sector and provide much-needed information and financial access to potential homeowners. The focus on affordability and diverse financing options could significantly impact the ability of many Ghanaians to achieve homeownership. Decision-makers and market participants will closely watch the fair's outcomes and Republic Bank's continued efforts in this critical area.
