Forms Capital Limited, in partnership with MobileMoney Fintech Limited, has officially rebranded its mobile money overdraft service, 'XtraBalance', as 'MoMo Boost'. This change aims to improve customer understanding, strengthen brand recognition, and drive wider adoption among MTN MoMo users. The service continues to provide eligible MTN MoMo customers with instant access to an overdraft facility.

The rebranding is designed to make the service easier to identify and better communicate its purpose. MoMo Boost allows users to complete transactions even when their mobile money wallet balance is insufficient. The new name more accurately reflects the value the service provides by giving customers a financial boost when needed. The core features and benefits of the service remain unchanged for all users.

This rebranding fits into Ghana's broader push for financial inclusion through digital solutions. Mobile money services have become crucial for many Ghanaians, especially those in underserved areas. The ability to access instant credit, even for small amounts, supports daily economic activities and helps bridge financial gaps. This initiative aligns with efforts to expand access to responsible credit for individuals and microbusinesses across the country.

Ishmael Abbey, Head of Business Development at Forms Capital Limited, stated the decision was based on customer feedback. He explained the company's commitment to making its products more accessible. "The transition from XtraBalance to MoMo Boost is more than a name change; it is about making our service simpler to understand and easier to remember," Abbey said. He emphasized that the goal is to remove confusion and ensure more Ghanaians confidently use this innovative financial solution.

MoMo Boost automatically covers shortfalls when a customer's mobile money wallet lacks sufficient funds for an eligible transaction. Instead of a transaction being declined, the service enables payments or transfers to proceed seamlessly. Eligible customers receive a credit line between GHS 50 and GHS 5,000, determined by their usage and repayment history. This credit is automatically applied for eligible transactions initiated via the MTN MoMo USSD platform or the MTN MoMo app.

Customers are charged interest only on the amount they use, not on their total approved credit limit. Repayment is automated; funds received into the mobile money wallet, through cash deposits or other credits, automatically recover the outstanding MoMo Boost amount. This seamless process requires no additional action from the customer, ensuring convenience and ease of use.

The service supports a wide array of mobile money transactions. These include money transfers, cash withdrawals, merchant and business payments, and utility bill payments. It also covers airtime and data purchases, government and tax payments, and other eligible MTN MoMo wallet transactions. This broad utility makes MoMo Boost a versatile financial tool for many users.

Forms Capital has assured existing XtraBalance users that they do not need to re-register. Their credit limits, transaction history, and repayment arrangements will remain unchanged. The only difference customers will notice is the new name. The company encourages eligible MTN MoMo customers who have not yet activated the service to register for uninterrupted access to funds.

The rebranding does not affect the safety, reliability, or operational features of the service. Forms Capital Limited is a regulated specialized deposit-taking institution with over a decade of experience. Through products like XtraCash and MoMo Boost, and its partnership with MTN Ghana, the company has expanded access to instant credit for thousands of Ghanaians. This focus on digital lending products significantly contributes to financial inclusion, particularly for underserved individuals and small businesses.
