Amantin/Kasei Community Bank PLC has earmarked GHS21.19 million to support agribusiness growth in Ghana's Bono East Region. This significant financial commitment aims to boost the local agricultural sector and foster economic development.

The bank plans to disburse these funds as loans to approximately 1,000 agribusinesses. These businesses operate across the entire agricultural value chain. This initiative directly supports the bank's commitment to enhancing local economic growth and community development.

This investment aligns with Ghana's broader economic strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector. Agriculture remains a crucial pillar of the Ghanaian economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. Community banks like Amantin/Kasei play a vital role in channeling funds to rural economies, often underserved by larger financial institutions. The Bank of Ghana consistently encourages financial inclusion and support for key economic sectors.

Mr. Michael Wilberforce Osae, Chief Executive Officer of Amantin/Kasei Community Bank, confirmed this allocation. He made the announcement on the sidelines of the bank’s 21st Annual General Meeting. Mr. Osae emphasized the importance of timely loan repayments to ensure the sustainability of the program. Prompt repayment allows more businesses to benefit and strengthens the bank's financial position.

The bank also set an ambitious target of achieving a GHS16 million profit in 2026. This financial goal demonstrates its commitment to strong performance and operational efficiency. Furthermore, the bank must meet the Bank of Ghana's GHS5 million minimum capital requirement by December 31, 2026. This regulatory compliance is crucial for its continued operation and stability.

Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, commended the bank for its initiatives. He praised its contribution to financial inclusion and local development. Mr. Antwi urged shareholders and customers to remain loyal and continue their business with the bank. He also called on them to help the bank meet its capital requirement. The Minister pledged his support for initiatives that promote the growth and sustainability of community banks in the region. Such support accelerates socio-economic development across the Bono East Region.

The bank's 21st Annual General Meeting involved reviewing and adopting the 2025 financial statements. Shareholders also declared dividends and authorized directors to determine auditor and director remuneration. This structured governance ensures transparency and accountability in the bank's operations. The focus on agribusiness is a strategic move to leverage the region's economic strengths. It also addresses the financial needs of a critical sector. This commitment will likely stimulate job creation and improve livelihoods in the Bono East Region. The success of this initiative depends on both the bank's prudent management and the beneficiaries' responsible repayment behavior. This model of community-led financial support is essential for Ghana's decentralized economic growth.
