Amanano Community Bank announced a historic profit of GHS 19.2 million for the 2025 financial year. This marks the highest annual earnings for the bank since its establishment in 1982.

The record performance was unveiled at the bank's Annual General Meeting (AGM). Board Chairman, Oheneyere Augustina Asare Osei, attributed this achievement to careful management and sustained growth. The bank made an impairment provision of GHS 5.7 million but still delivered strong results.

This financial strength aligns with a broader trend of growth in Ghana's banking sector. Banks recorded GHS 15.0 billion in profits in 2025, a 43.5% increase. The Bank of Ghana reclassified all rural banks as community banks to strengthen the sector. This change aims to broaden their appeal and service offerings beyond rural areas.

Oheneyere Augustina Asare Osei stated that this GHS 19.2 million profit is exceptional. She said the bank had never achieved such a performance in its history. She also highlighted the board's decision to increase its capital. Board members raised the bank's capital to GHS 7 million, exceeding the Bank of Ghana's minimum requirement of GHS 5 million. This move prepares the bank for any future challenges.

Amanano Community Bank will introduce diaspora banking services and enhanced digital platforms. These services will allow Ghanaians living abroad to conduct transactions securely. This initiative aims to make banking easier for overseas customers and attract investments. The bank also declared a GHS 1.9 million dividend for shareholders. However, shareholders approved converting this dividend into bonus shares to strengthen the bank's capital base. The bank plans to open a new branch this year. It will also establish more branches in the Kumasi area in the coming years. This expansion will improve access to banking services and boost profitability.

The reclassification of rural banks to community banks by the Bank of Ghana is nearly complete. Samuel Tepatey Tetteh, Legal Services Manager at Apex Bank, confirmed this transition. He explained that the new name is more attractive. It reflects the expanded reach of these institutions. They will now serve suburban and urban communities in addition to rural areas. This change aims to remove limiting perceptions and foster business growth.

Amanano Community Bank's strong performance and strategic plans indicate a positive outlook. Its focus on prudent management, staff motivation, and customer-focused services will drive continued growth. This expansion and diaspora banking initiative could attract significant foreign remittances and investments. The broader financial sector will watch how community banks leverage their new status.
