Absa Bank has co-arranged a €456 million financing package for Genser Energy Investments LLC. This significant funding supports the integrated energy company's next phase of growth in West Africa. The transaction involved Absa Bank Limited's Corporate and Investment Banking division alongside two other banks.

The funds will provide crucial working capital for Genser Energy's ongoing engineering, procurement, and construction projects. This financing also strengthens the company's balance sheet and offers additional financial flexibility. It will support strategic priorities and continued growth across its operations.

This financing builds on previous successful deals, including Genser Energy Ghana's $428 million corporate refinancing. It also follows Genser Energy d’Ivoire SA’s €200 million equipment loan facility, both completed in 2025. The new package supports Genser Energy's continued investment in strategic energy infrastructure. It also facilitates operational expansion and new growth opportunities across the West African region.

Edward Nartey Botchway, Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana LTD, commented on the deal's importance. He stated, “Genser Energy’s €456 million financing demonstrates what African financial institutions can achieve by combining capital, expertise and regional reach.” Mr. Botchway added that Absa’s participation shows its ability to connect clients with financing solutions for complex, large-scale projects. These projects advance industrial growth and economic development across Africa.

Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, Managing Executive for Corporate and Investment Banking at Absa Bank Ghana LTD, also expressed satisfaction. She noted, “We are pleased for this opportunity to support Genser Energy’s strategic priorities and regional ambitions.” Ms. Ohene-Afoakwa reaffirmed Absa’s commitment to helping businesses secure financing for complex projects. These projects are vital for industrial growth and Africa’s long-term economic development.

Baafour Asiamah-Adjei, CEO of Genser Energy, highlighted the company's long-term vision. He said, “This financing reflects the confidence our financial partners continue to place in that vision.” Mr. Asiamah-Adjei thanked Rand Merchant Bank, Absa, and Standard Bank for their support. He emphasized Genser's focus on investing in large-scale infrastructure to deliver reliable energy. This infrastructure supports industry and creates long-term value for the communities it serves.

The financing follows Genser Energy’s strategic shareholder transition, announced in July 2026. It supports the company as it enters its next growth phase. Genser Energy expects to commission its Gas Conditioning Plant and the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal later in 2026. This funding provides flexibility for continued investment in Ghana. It also advances the company’s expansion into Côte d’Ivoire and other strategic West African markets. This move is expected to boost regional energy security and industrial output.
