Yara Ghana introduces two new crop specific fertilisers

The new fertilisers are specifically formulated to support the production of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and rice. Madam Theresa Randolph, Country Director of Yara Ghana, affirmed the company's commitment to providing tailored solutions for farmers. She stated, "Yara Ghana is committed to providing our smallholder farmers with the right crop nutrition solutions to enable them to achieve optimal yields, improve their incomes, and enhance their livelihoods." This commitment reflects a strategic response to the evolving needs of the agricultural community.
The North East Regional Director of Agriculture, Mr. Edward Nasara, welcomed the new products, highlighting Yara Ghana's role as a key partner in agricultural development. The Department of Agriculture will collaborate with Yara Ghana through extension services, farmer education, and technical support. This partnership will ensure farmers understand the proper application and benefits of the new fertilisers, fostering better adoption rates.
Access to effective crop nutrition solutions can lead to increased productivity and improved incomes, potentially attracting more youth to agriculture. Mr. Nasara encouraged farmers to adopt recommended fertiliser application practices for better yields and sustainable production. This emphasis on proper usage is vital for maximising the benefits of the new products and preventing misuse.
Mr. Osuman Fuseini, Yara Ghana Sales Agronomist for the North East Region, stressed the importance of applying the right fertiliser at the correct stage of crop development. He explained that optimal crop productivity depends on understanding soil conditions, specific crop requirements, and overall proper farming practices. Yara Ghana will continue to offer agronomic support services and technical guidance to help farmers make informed decisions.
Farmers who attended the engagement expressed optimism about the new fertiliser products. Their positive past experiences with Yara products have built confidence in these new solutions. They anticipate that Yara Winner Plus and Yara Legume will significantly boost the production of crops like soybeans, beans, vegetables, and rice, ultimately increasing their farm incomes.
