The Ghana Garden and Flower Movement (GGFM) has officially launched the 14th Ghana Garden and Flower Show, emphasizing the theme "Green Means Business, Beauty and More." This annual event, taking place from September 12 to 21, 2026, at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park in Accra, aims to position horticulture and floriculture as significant contributors to Ghana's economic development.

The show's focus on "Green Means Business" highlights the potential for economic growth, innovation, tourism, and climate resilience within the green sector. It seeks to encourage greater investment in green solutions and initiatives. These efforts are designed to create opportunities for businesses, young people, and communities, while simultaneously promoting environmental sustainability across the nation.

This initiative aligns with Ghana's broader economic narrative, which increasingly seeks diversified growth beyond traditional sectors. The emphasis on green enterprises supports the government's push for sustainable development and job creation, particularly for the youth. Such events contribute to building a resilient economy by fostering new industries and promoting environmentally conscious practices.

Mrs. Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Senior Presidential Adviser to President John Mahama, unveiled the 2026 Show symbol and theme. She drew parallels from her visit to the Singapore Botanical Gardens, noting how green spaces symbolize national identity, diplomacy, and sustainable economic opportunities. Her remarks underscored the multifaceted value of the green economy, extending beyond mere aesthetics.

The upcoming show is expected to attract flower growers, florists, landscapers, environmental advocates, and policymakers. It will also feature participants from other African countries, including Burkina Faso and Nigeria, expanding its regional impact. This broad participation will facilitate knowledge sharing, capacity building, and strategic partnerships essential for the continued growth of Ghana's green economy.

Exhibitors will showcase products and services, connect with buyers, and explore new market opportunities. The event will include vibrant exhibitions, floral displays, live gardening demonstrations, and expert-led masterclasses. Business networking sessions and youth-focused engagements are also planned, designed to inspire innovation and encourage practical green living.

The Ghana Garden and Flower Show, a flagship event of the GGFM, was established by Stratcomm Africa in 2013. For 13 years, the movement has inspired individuals and organizations to appreciate environmental protection. This year, it specifically emphasizes enterprise, innovation, health, and sustainability within the green sector. The show aims to create jobs, strengthen livelihoods, and build healthier communities.

Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa, stated that the movement demonstrates how investing in green business delivers environmental, social, and economic value. She encouraged all Ghanaians to embrace green living as both a shared responsibility and an opportunity for national development. This collective effort is crucial for building a greener, cleaner, healthier, wealthier, and more beautiful Ghana.

The show's comprehensive program includes a garden-themed fashion show, an awards event, and stakeholder dialogues. These activities are designed to strengthen Ghana's horticulture and floriculture sector. The event provides a vital platform for businesses, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders to exchange ideas, showcase innovation, and build collaborations that drive sustainable growth in the green economy.
